Diana Markosian

Diàna Markosian dreamed of becoming a professional ballet dancer until an injury intervened. Fortunately, journalism was there to pick up the slack and she soon realized that she felt just as passionate about telling stories and working in the field.   At the University of Oregon, she majored in history and international studies and minored in journalism, while participating in student government and interning at four news stations. Her junior year, Markosian worked as an overnight writer for the ABC affiliate in Eugene, Ore., while attending school full-time.

Since Markosian graduated, her life has been a non-stop trek between the U.S., Eastern Europe and Asia. She moved to Moscow to follow her dream of becoming an international reporter. During the month-long conflict between Russia and Georgia, Markosian contributed stories for CNN’s Moscow Bureau. She later took a job as a writer for KPTV in Portland, Ore. More recently, Markosian, on a whim, moved to China and freelanced for various media outlets, including The China Daily.
