Anam Siddiq

Anam Siddiq covers Astoria Houses, a Long Island City neighborhood in Queens, NY.

Anam was born in Anaheim, California. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine, where she majored in literary journalism and US History.  At Irvine, she was the features and news editor for the school’s print publication, the ‘New University’.

Prior to attending Columbia Journalism School, Anam worked at two local NPR stations in Sacramento and Pasadena. In addition, she also covered social justice issues and politics for local newspapers. Anam reported on controversial issues such as the introduction of body scanners in airports long before they exploded on a national level. She also got an exclusive student interview with then-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger during the 2009 budget negotiations.

Anam is obsessed with history. Her passion for journalism comes from a desire to be involved in writing history.  As she puts it, history is only fact until it’s corrected. You can follow Anam on Twitter @itssiddiq.
