Population: 4,342

The 15 buildings that make up the Patterson Housing Developments are located in the Mott Haven Community of South Bronx. The Houses were built in 1950, and named after Lester Patterson, a Bronx County Judge. Patterson sits between East 139th and East 145th Streets, and Morris and Third Avenues in the 16th Congressional District. While poverty and crime still continue to plague these communities, efforts have been made to resuscitate business and culture. The South Bronx cultural corridor runs from Grand Concourse through Mott Haven, Hunts Point, and other areas in the District. The South Bronx is said to be the birthplace of Hip Hop Culture and Rap Music.
