Economic Troubles Strain South Bronx Art Community

Alexander Avenue in the South Bronx, a one-time hub for artists and antique shoppers, has been hit hard by the struggling economy. When the Haven Arts Gallery shut down this summer, a four-block community had lost two galleries and four antique stores in the last two years. Still, even as more businesses close their doors, some artists are weathering the storm. Thad Novak reports.
